Peter Menzies
2021 Order of Yukon Inductee.
Peter has lived in the Yukon since 1981 and has made ongoing and substantial contributions as a community builder. Peter has been an industrial arts teacher in Carmacks and Dawson, and he is known for his dedication to his students and his ability to provide meaningful educational experiences.
He is also known for his ability to identify a need, finding people who can help him address it and providing the support on a long-term basis. An example of this is his commitment to expanding music education along the North Klondike Highway. He founded a society that has brought music teachers and an instrument lending library to several Yukon Communities.
Peter's latest project is the Industrial Arts and Technology Society of Yukon he founded to create a makerspace and deliver trades training to the public.
Dave Mossop
2021 Order of Yukon Inductee.
Since the early 1970s, David has contributed immensely to the preservation and conservation of Yukon's species. As the Yukon Government's non-game biologist, he developed the Non-Game Program and enabled the development of the Wildlife Viewing Program.
Since 1997, David has been teaching biology and natural history courses at Yukon University and is a member of the Yukon Research Centre. David is a founding member of the Yukon Wildlife Preserve, an original member of the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada and is currently a board member of the Yukon Conservation Society.
Over 40 years, David has continuously conducted research on the many bird species in the Yukon and has been collecting specimens for the Yukon Biodiversity research collection. He was instrumental in the recovery of the Peregrine Falcon in the Yukon.
Dr. David Storey
2021 Order of Yukon Inductee.
Since 1977, Dr. Storey has been a practicing surgeon in the Yukon and has provided outstanding care to all patients he met. Over the years, he has been a counsellor, caregiver, general surgeon, orthopedic surgeon, neurosurgeon, urologist, gynecologist, obstetrician, rhino-otolaryngologist, and more.
In 1986, he set up his surgical practice in the Yukon and has mentored and trained many surgeons over the years, two of which are still practicing in the territory. Along with running his surgical practice for over 35 years, he is a past Chairman of the Yukon Medical Council.
