    Vancouver, B.C., Aug. 29. - News has been received from Atlin of a newly-formed placer gold creek, which has been called Lincoln. The finders of gold there were James Baxton and William Powell. The creek flows northerly past the foot of the western slope of the Brown Dome Mountain, and empties into Gladys Lake. Powell, Baxton, F. Bowen and J. W. Olroyd spent July thoroughly prospecting Lincoln Creek, and are satisfied that it will prove no blank. At a depth of three feet on the discovery claim the dirt gave a return of three and four cents in coarse gold to the pan from a granite wash. Bedrock is looked for at about twenty feet, and if the surface values improve with depth the creek will prove rich. The discovery. is eight miles from the mouth of Lincoln Creek and forty-five miles north-easterly from Atlin. The creek has a good fall and contains as much water as Pine Creek.
