On the night of Tuesday, July 1, Pete Peterson, a brakeman on the Scotia Bay-Taku portage railway line between Taku and Atlin lake, was instantly killed at Scotia Bay by being run over by an engine.
The train crew was engaged in switching and Peterson, after uncoupling a car, fell in front of the engine and was run over, death being instantaneous.
Deceased was a native of Denmark and about 50 years old at the time of his death. He was an old-timer in the Atlin district, where he had been employed at mining and wood cutting for many years. This was his fourth season as brakeman. An inquest will be held.
