Atlin, B.C., Dec. 15 - William G. Paxton, mining recorder and acting gold commissioner and government agent, died this morning in St. Andrew's hospital after a six week's illness.
Mr. Paxton has been a resident of this city since the early days, having come into the camp during the gold stampede in 1899, and since that time has taken an active part in all matters pertaining to the welfare of the district.
He has been a prominent figure in life of the camp, and has been highly thought of by all.
Mr. Paxton's health began failing during the past summer and it was found necessary for him to enter the hospital early in November, but he continued to decline and today he passed away.
Mr. Paxton was a native of Edinborough, Scotland, and outside of a brother who is on the staff of the Canadian Bank of Commerce in Vancouver, there is no knowledge of other relatives.
