The DeLorean DMC-12 is one of the most talked about cars ever made. Some love it, some hate it, some think they know the story behind its troubled life, others actually do. The folks at Carfection sat down with some of the people closest to the project to talk about DeLorean - the man, the car and the people who wanted to do something genuinely groundbreaking (47:22).
The first prototype DeLorean appeared in October 1976, and production began in 1981 in Dunmurry, Northern Ireland. The first DMC-12 rolled off the production line on January 21st. With minor changes over the two years of production, about 9,000 DeLoreans were built by early 1983 when production stopped.
