First Day Covers from the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Series, 1977
Gibraltar
Queen Elizabeth II 1977 Silver Jubilee postage stamps
Numbered among the smallest of Britain's colonies is Gibraltar, barely
three miles long and less than a mile wide. The Co1ony’s famous limestone Rock of
Gibraltar, 1,398 feet in elevation, guards the western access to the Mediterranean Sea and is a landmark known the world over.
The Rock of Gibraltar towers over the old walled city where these First Day Covers were issued in tribute to the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
