Preliminary schedules providing for the operation of the Northern Commercial Company's river fleet have been announced, to go into effect at the opening
of navigation on the Yukon. The company has eleven steamers which will be operated between Dawson and the mouth of the Tanana and from St. Michael up the Tanana to Fairbanks.
The first of these sailings will take place immediately upon the opening of navigation and before the first boats come down from White Horse, and the schedule provides for regular saliings from that time on, connections being made with the ocean-going steamers of the Northern Steamship Company as follows:
Steamers Tanana, Rock Island and Lavelle Young to Fairbanks direct.
Steamers Sarah and Louise to mouth of the Tanana river, there to connect with steamer Tanana and Tanana fleet for Fairbanks.
Immediately after the first boat arrives from White Horse the following boats will sail for Fairbanks:
Steamers Susie and Sarah for St. Michael, both to connect at mouth of
the Tanana with Tanana fleet for Fairbanks.
Steamer Rock Island for St. Michael via Fairbanks.
Steamer Lavelle Young for Fairbanks direct, after which time the regular summer schedule willl begin.
Between Dawson and St. Michael there will be three packets, the steamers
Sarah, Susie and Hannah, on a regular weekly schedule, and after July 1, from Dawson to Fairbanks, the steamer Lavelle Young will make regular trips.
The schedule from St. Michael to Fairbanks direct includes the steamers Seattle No 3, D. R. Campbell, Rock Island and Alice.
St. Michael to mouth of the Tanana river, there to connect with Tanana river fleet for Fairbanks, steamers Louise, Herman and Leah. These last three tow boats with barges have a capacity of 2,800 tons per trip.
The Tanana river fleet includes the steamers Tanana, Lavelle Young, Koyokuk, Margaret and Isabelle.
