The novel experience of driving an old model Ford delivery truck from
Dawson to Whitehorse over the "International Highway" was the exploit of four Dawson youths, namely Oscar Weibel, William Grafton, Robert Grant and Ward McAlister. The party left Dawson on Wednesday afternoon and arrived here on Sunday night, having two meals and one nights' sleep on the way.
They had the misfortune to lose their provisions and tools, etc.,
shortly after leaving Dawson and on arriving at Yukon Crossing had to take the car to pieces with a hammer the only tool. The crossing was effected after a few thrilling attempts at balancing the canoe used with the heavy loads, at 3 o'clock one morning.
When they were half way across the river a block of ice barged into the side of the canoe and came near capsizing the frail craft, but by the sudden shifting of weight the crossing
was successfully made. The party left for the outside on Wednesday's train.
