    On January 3, 2025, I started a discussion about Bailey bridges in the Yukon at my Yukon History & Abandoned Places group on Facebook. There was a vast amount of information and many photos shared. This page provides a glimpse at it, with my photos except where stated otherwise.

    The discussion started as a result of a visit I made to the Bailey bridge pages posted by the Canadian Military Engineers Association (CMEA). The Bailey Bridges in Canada page links to a provincial/territorial listing.

The Whitehorse Star (Whitehorse, Y.T.)

    Reopening of the Canol Road to the junction of the Pelly and Ross Rivers was completed this year. R. E. Stauch, resident engineer with the department of northern affairs, this week outlined the main items of construction. They included one one-hundred-foot span of Bailey bridging and two twenty-five-foot timber bridge spans across the Rose River; one one-hundred foot span of Bailey bridging and one twenty-five-foot timber bridge span across the Lapie River (Canyon; one hundred and eighty five feet of timber bridging and forty feet of Bailey bridge across streams; one-hundred-and-fifty feet of old bridging redecked and repaired; two thousand four hundred lineal feet of culvert installations; twenty miles of road re-surfaced with gravel; two miles of side-road should be gravelled with hill slough removed: one mile of road relocated; and one mile of road rebuilt through washouts.

    General Enterprises Limited of Whitehorse was the contractor for the work between Sidney Creek, mile 30.5, and the Lapie River, mile 136.5.

    At present the Canol Road is not open to winter traffic. Be- cause of its low standard this road should be travelled with caution.
