Puckett and His Ford
Last week W. A. Puckett, shortly after receiving his new Ford automobile, told the editor of the Weekly Star all about it and at the same time stated that he was going to run the machine himself. Incidentally he asked us if we wouldn't like to take a spin with him on his trial trip. We refused kindly, though firmly. Our declination should
have given him some inkling of his status in Whitehorse chaffeur circles, but it apparently did not for he went out that same evening and in trying to make a turn in a five-acre lot down near the shipyards ran into Charley Baxter's lumber wagon, which was standing by its lonesome away off to one side, and came very near turning his automobile
over on top himself. As it was he peeled off a lot of paint and battered up the mud-guards on one side of the machine. He still persisting however in his suicidal course, and we shall not be surprised any day to hear of his backing off into the river.
Automobile Notes
Dr. A. P. Hawes is now spinning around town in his new Ford runabout, which he received from Vancouver on Tuesday's train.
Ransom Alguire bought the new Ford machine recently brought in by W. A.
Puckett and the latter has already ordered another from the factory for his own use.
Messrs. Isaac Taylor, J. P. Whitney and M. J. Thompson have each ordered
through the local agency a five passenger Ford touring car, all of which are expected to arrive in Whitehorse on Tuesday of next week.
