Freddie Cederberg, son of F. Cederberg, station agent at Carcross for
the White Pass and Yukon Route, sustained painful injury to his wrist late Wednesday afternoon while sleighing at Carcross.
First word of the accident was received when Mr. Cederberg phoned the Whitehorse station in an endeavor to have his son brought to the Whitehorse General Hospital for treatment.
Officials of the company first thought of sending the company Ford tri-motor from the airport over for the lad, hut it was found that several hours would have to be spent warming the machine up. They then wired the Skagway office, who reported that Pilot Bookwalter could not get over the Summit owing to poor visibility.
Just when plans were about completed for the despatch of a special
train, Pilot Bob Randall of the Northern Airways roared into the Carcross airport and the suffering youngster was put aboard and speedily delivered here, the White Pass Co. truck
meeting the plane at the airport and taking him to the hospital.
While first aid was rendered to the lad by Miss M. Vincent, R.N., of the
Chooutla School staff at Carcross, an examination by Dr. Hildebrand disclosed that injuries were not as bad as expected. The lad had two fractures of the wrist, but late reports state the wrist is now in a cast and Freddie is resting easy.
