Stricken with acute appendicitis, John Hayden, 21, trapper of Kluane Lake, was admitted to the General Hospital here on Monday night, having completed the seven-day journey here by dog team under the most difficult circumstances.
When his condition became serious, his brother started out with him on January 2nd from their home at Kluane Lake over an unbroken trail, and with drifted snow
to impede their progress. Upon arrival at Champagne five days later it was apparent that both dogs and driver were completely exhausted, and as the sick man was suffering intensely at the time, it fell to the lot of Const. A. Allen of the R.C.M.P. to complete
the journey here with the police team.
The journey from Champagne here, notwithstanding drifts and many other
obstacles, was made in the record time of two days The patient was operated on successfully Thursday morning and is now well on the road to recovery.
