Edwin Wallace Gideon (1862-1925)

Highlights of History from The Whitehorse Star

The Whitehorse Star - Friday, October 30, 1925

Death Calls Another Pioneer, 1925

As a result of a partial stroke of a few years ago, and from which he never recovered, Edwin W. Gideon passed away at his home in Carcross early Tuesday evening.

Mr. and. Mrs. Gideon came in over the Dyea trail in '98. They lived for a time in Dawson, Canyon River and Whitehorse, and during the last fifteen years they made their home in Carcross.

The funeral took place at Carcross on Wednesday evening and was largely attended by old friends and acquaintances of the deceased.

During his long and trying illness Mr. Gideon was faithfully and tenderly cared for by Mrs. Gideon, to whom the sympathy of a wide circle of friends is extended in her hour of bereavement.

Edwin Gideon's wife was Bessie Geraldine Gideon. She died on October 27, 1933, and was also interred at Carcross.
