Arriving on last Friday's train, the Hon. George and Mrs. Black renewed
old acquaintances in the district, while Capt. Black was the recipient of many congratulations on his recovery from his recent illness.
In a statement to The Star, Capt. Black said it was impossible for him
to attempt to contest the coming election as he is under strict orders from his medical advisors to take several months' rest from business activity.
Mrs. Black, who was unanimously nominated candidate for the Conservative Party, left for Carmacks on Wednesday night. After a brief stay at Carmacks, she will continue down river by small boat to Dawson, where she expects to arrive on or about the
16th of the month.
Capt. Black left Saturday last for Carmacks to look over the mining situation at Mt. Freegold, and endeavor to interest another large concern in its
possibilities. Questioned about the Timmins Corporation's activities in the district, he said that, in his opinion, the district did not have a fair show as instructions left by an official of the company were certainly not carried out, and blamed mismanagement as the cause of the company dropping the options.
