Bove Island Viewpoint, Yukon

by Murray Lundberg

Campgrounds and Rest Areas in the Yukon

The Bove Island Viewpoint is located at Km 95 of the South Klondike Highway. It has garbage bins and interpretive panels; there is no access to the lake. The viewpoint overlooks uninhabited Bove Island and some smaller unnamed islets in Tagish Lake. To the west (left) is Nares Lake, and to the south, Windy Arm of Tagish Lake. From the viewpoint, you are looking downstream.

During the Klondike Gold Rush, many boats were wrecked in this area due to strong winds.
