Dateline: January 10, 2024.

    It's common this time of year to look back at what happened during the previous year. For me, the photos on my blog are a good way of doing that, so I decided to pick out the best photo posted each month. "Best" doesn't mean photographically - images that I'd submit to a contest - merely images that I like because they show what we were up to, and that I connect with in various ways.

    In 2017, 131 posts were added to the blog, with a total of 3,022 photos. The longest post, with 59 photos, was "Driving from Lillooet to Goldbridge and Bralorne", added on June 21st, but several posts had over 40 photos.

January 2017
On January 11th I posted the story of our personal experience with canine reincarnation - see "A Dog's Purpose - the movie and our experience with reincarnation".

February 2017
On February 9th I was in Dawson City with a Yukon Quest tour group - see "Looking at life at the Yukon Quest Dawson City checkpoint".

March 2017
At the end of March, a friend and I drove to Watson Lake and back to get a liter of rescue puppies, and met some caribou on the way - see "An Alaska Highway road trip - caribou and rescue puppies".

April 2017
On April 26th I drove across the Nisutlin Bay Bridge at Teslin, which as I write this is about to become history (2024) - see "Down the Alaska Highway, starting a 10-week wander around BC".

May 2017
At the end of May we were on one of the most magnificent beaches I've ever seen, resulting in a post with 42 photos - see "Furthest-North Vancouver Island - San Josef Bay".

June 2017
On the first day of June, I posted about hiking the Ripple Rock Trail on Vancouver Island - see "Ripple Rock RV Park, and hiking the Ripple Rock Trail".

July 2017
On July 14th I posted 44 photos from a flight to see a C-47 that crashed in 1950 - see "Helicopter to a crashed USAF C-47 north of Haines Junction".

August 2017
In early August I did a few hikes with geologists in the northern Yukon - see "Tombstone Rocks! - Geology Weekend in Tombstone Park".

September 2017
On September 10th, a friend from Kelowna and I drove up to Paddy Peak on a successful hunt - see "Photographing Fall colours and Dall sheep at Paddy Peak, BC".

October 2017
In early October my daughter and I were exploring backroads around Drumheller, Alberta - see "Exploring Drumheller's Atlas Coal Mine, and a bad road choice".

November 2017
On November 11th, I posted 31 photos of roads around the world I'd driven in the previous 46 years - see "Roads - it's about the Journey, not the Destination".

December 2017
Making anther drive to Calgary in December, I posted 47 photos just from the Icefields Parkway- see "A winter drive down the Icefields Parkway in the Canadian Rockies".
