The Luckiest Guy in the World – That’d be Me

No, I didn’t win the lottery, but what I have received is even better than cash. I’m now seizure free with no drugs, despite the fact that the neurologist said it was not going to happen. He was going to take me off the dilantin in 6 months and watch the result. But he also said that he’d be happy if the dilantin was 80% effective in controlling them. When I had no hint of a seizure for a few days, I weaned myself off it over 6 days. Today is my first “clean” day – it takes a while to get dilantin out of your system completely so I’m still a bit “buzzed”, but my energy level is rapidly getting back to what it was.

My test was done without telling anyone, even Cathy, and I feel really bad that’s she’s now upset that I kept this secret. But she would have argued and been worried the whole week, so my “covert operation” was the expedient method. Not perfect by a long shot, but sometimes “a guy’s gotta do what a guy’s gotta do”….

Nobody knows why this sort of health problem can suddenly appear, and nobody knows why, when or if it’s going to disappear just as suddenly. Thanks again for all the prayers and positive energy over the past month, folks – they’ve been hugely appreciated. I’m passing on all the positive energy now to Jade, a beautiful little girl who really deserves to have her similar problem go away.
