First Day Covers from the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Series, 1977
Queen Elizabeth II 1977 Silver Jubilee postage stamps
Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands, situated northwest of the coast of France. Although it is not a part of the United Kingdom, the Bailiwick of ]ersey has been dependent on the Crown since The Conquest of 1066. Dairy is an important industry, and the highly-productive milk cow, the Jersey, originated there. For nearly two centuries it has been the only dairy animal permitted on the island.
Jersey's First Day Covers, bearing early and recent likenesses of the Queen, were postmarked on February 7, 1977.
