First Day Covers from the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Series, 1977

Hong Kong

Queen Elizabeth II 1977 Silver Jubilee postage stamps

Hong Kong is a free port, a bustling trade center, a major banking emporium - and one of the greatest shipping centers in the Far East. Overcoming such handicaps as a scarcity of minerals, power sources, usable land, and fresh water, and utilizing its abundant supply of labour, Hong Kong has become a leading manufacturing center. The textile and garment industry is the colony's largest. There are vast complexes of spinning, carding, and weaving mills that run nonstop twenty-four hours a day.

This First Day Cover honoring the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II was issued on February 7, 1977, in Hong Kong.
