Alaska Air Transport Wreck, 1938


    The two photographs below show the wreckage of a Fairchild 71, registration NC970. Shell Simmons, who had opened Alaska Air Transport in 1935, was the pilot when the plane went down near Chicagoff on September 25, 1938. The photos may have been taken by Pan Am pilot Keith Petrich.
